Beating Back Voter Suppression in Randolph County

MADSA members joined the NAACP, New Georgia Project, Helen Butler of the Coalition for a People’s Agenda and other social justice organizations in standing with the citizens of Randolph County to oppose the proposed closing of seven out of the 11 county polling stations. Due to the concerted efforts of citizens, organizers, and activists the measure was defeated. In a meeting that lasted less than five minutes, the proposal was unanimously voted down. This victory is just the beginning. Concerned citizens should continue to fight voter suppression. We urge people to volunteer with voter registration drives, hold elected officials accountable for protecting voting access, sign up to drive people to the polls, and most importantly – be sure to vote on November 6.
