Supporting Fight for $15 and a Union
As we have in the past, on Oct. 4 MADSA members supported fast food workers on strike for union rights at a local McDonald. We joined ATL Raise Up, with Atlanta Jobs With Justice and members from area unions. “This is the first strike we’re holding specifically to focus on union rights and the importance of unions,” said ATL Raise Up. “We’ll be joining a global week of strikes and rallies with airport, child care, hospital, adjunct professors, and other low wage workers. This will kick off our month of canvasses leading up to election day. The strikes and canvasses follow a blitz of town halls and roundtable meetings workers in the Fight for $15 have held in 17 cities this year with members of Congress and state and local elected leaders focused on the need for lawmakers to make it easier for workers to organize in unions.” Photo: Reid Freeman Jenkins
