Abortion is healthcare and a human right. Abortion is fundamentally tied to the principle of bodily autonomy. Abortion bans are class warfare intended to harm and criminalize working people. We must oppose this undemocratic assault on our human rights.
The Supreme Court is an undemocratic institution. These unelected, elite judges are uninterested in protecting the rights of working people. SCOTUS is now a prime vehicle for the white nationalist right-wing: it is not a body we can rely on to protect our rights. The undemocratic ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade is an attempt to erode democracy and working peoples’ ability to make decisions about our own lives.
We need a mass movement to win back our rights. The Supreme Court has made abhorrent decisions in the past — upholding segregation in the 1800s and overturning labor protections in the 1920s. These undemocratic rulings were only overturned with the power of mass working-class movements that challenged the rich and powerful. We urge people to make their voices heard and reject all anti-choice policy and politicians.
Pass the Reproductive Freedom Act!
Georgians deserve free abortion on demand without apology—nothing less. Earlier this year, the Reproductive Freedom Act was officially introduced in Georgia’s State House as HB 75, with six sponsors. The passage of this bill would repeal medically unnecessary and harmful abortion restrictions and legalize abortion in Georgia once and for all. Join us in calling on Georgia’s State and Local Elected Officials to do everything in their power to make abortion legal, safe and free! Read more about the Reproductive Freedom Act, sign our petition, and contact your State legislators about supporting HB 75!

Fulton County Needs an Abortion Fund!
Last year, Atlanta City Council signed legislation to allocate $300,000 of city funds to support the efforts of Access Reproductive Care (ARC) Southeast, a nonprofit that provides funding assistance for costs associated with abortion. Now, we’re calling on Fulton County to do the same! Plus, attend the next Fulton County Commission meeting on Oct. 4 to make public comment!

Talking points:
- With Georgia’s 6-week abortion ban in place, people are more likely to have to travel out of state to access abortion care, which leads to additional expenses.
- There are only 15 clinics that provide abortions in Georgia. 95% of Georgia’s counties do not have an abortion clinic and 55% of Georgia women live in those counties, which means most Georgians must travel a significant distance to abortion providers.
- In the South, there are states with total abortion bans, six-week bans, 12-week bans, and 15-week bans (for now). All of these restrictions mean that people who need care beyond these thresholds will have to go further for care.
- People may have to travel as far as Maryland or DC, Illinois, or further away to places like New York.
- 60% of people who have an abortion are already parents to one or more child, so childcare costs must also be factored in for those who are forced to travel to obtain an abortion.
